What is the Ads.txt?
According to the official Google Adsense website: ads.txt (Authorized Digital Sellers) is a file used to declare the authorization of a website, designed to help ad buyers confirm that the ad space they buy is provided by an authorized seller. It is an industry standard developed by the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau).
Ad buyers can check the ads.txt file of a website when they purchase an ad to confirm that the ad space they are buying is provided by an authorized seller. This helps reduce fraud and lost ad revenue, and increases the transparency and credibility of ad transactions.
In the ads.txt file, the website owner can list the authorized sellers (ad platforms or intermediaries) and their corresponding accounts or IDs. in this way, ad buyers can check the website’s ads.txt file to determine whether they are working with an authorized seller, and thus avoid advertising transactions with unauthorized sellers.
However, sometimes, we have uploaded the ads.txt file, but Google Adsense still can’t crawl our information officially, as the following picture:
The “Approval status” of our website is “Ready”, but the “Ads.txt status” is “Not found”. Also, by checking the status of our ads.txt techchris.org/ads.txt
Two solutions to “adx.txt not found”:
1.Through the WordPress plugins to solve
Enter the admin page of WordPress website, click “Plugins” >> “Add New” >> search “ads.txt” in the search bar >> click “install Now” >> click “Activate“
After entering your Google Adsense, click on “Account” >> “Settings” >> “Account Information” >> copy your “Publisher ID“
Go back to the WordPress admin>> Go to “Settings” >> “adx.txt” and copy the “Publisher ID ” and paste it into the following location in red letters:
google.com, pub-0000000000000000(Your Publisher ID), DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0
save
Go to yourdomain/ads.txt again to see if it’s done
2.Upload the “ads.txt” file to webhosting
Create a new txt file >> Name it “ads.txt” >> Copy “google.com, pub-0000000000000000(你的Publisher ID), DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0” then paste it to the new txt file you just created
Go to your Webhosting backend(by FTP or control panel) and place the ads.txt file in the root directory under root.
3. Wait for Google Adsense approval
Once we have completed the above steps, one last check:
- Can you access the ads.txt file by adding “/ads.txt” at the end of the URL? For example: mydomain.com/ads.txt
- Compare your txt code with the code in your AdSense account and see if there are any errors.
